Thank you all who turned out to make my farewell dance so special. The attendance count was 450. (No, we were not over capacity.) A special thanks to Gloria Miller and Dolores Colie for their involvement in making it "Just perfect". One could feel the love in the air all over the ballroom. I am so happy that I had a part in that feeling by opening Hollywood Ballroom 20 years ago. A lot of money went into the 7200 sq ft Canadian Maple Dance floating dance floor. ( It's even worth more now used than it was when installed.) I wanted the dance floor to be the best around and I think the dancers appreciated the fact that it was. I am particularly pleased, as we continued the "MD/VA Singles Dances on Friday nights, that so many met that someone special and married. So many more met that someone special and the relationships span that 25 years or more. Best of all people made good friends (most of all me), that span the years. I'll be around helping the new owner. Keep coming to the dances and bringing new friends. Your attendance helps pay the bills and mostly the rent. The Hollywood Ballroom preservation group facilitates the continuation of Hollywood Ballroom and it's wonderful dance floor.

Never thought I would cha-cha to Riana and do the TANGO to Shaggy music, ever at the Hollywood Ballroom

Thank you sooooooooooo much, the highlight of my every week is my Friday night at Hollywood Ballroom.

Time: Fall 1997
Place: Osaka, Japan

To celebrate a successful completion of a consulting assignment, my hosts invited me to a Sushi-Dance Bar in downtown Osaka. A live band was playing American music and everyone was having a ball!

It did not take very long for a dancing couple to find out I came from the Washington, DC area. It turned out that couple had spent 6 months in this area in early 1997; and regularly danced at the Hollywood Ballroom!

For over one hour, they went on to tell me numerous accounts of the wonderful time and experience they had at the Hollywood Ballroom!

I quickly realized how small the world really was; or better yet...how famous the Hollywood Ballroom really was!

I am traveling back to the mainland this week to visit my daughters in Maryland. Looking forward to attending all the dances at the Hollywood Ballroom. Last year gave me wonderful memories of all the nice people in your club. See you soon.

Dear Bobbie,

Thank you for making such a wonderful place for people of all ages to dance. I am recently divorced, and I feel very comfortable and safe coming to the Hollywood Ballroom by myself. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I have learned how to dance so much better than I did when I was taking lessons. The gentlemen are courteous and help me with steps that I don't know. I always have a wonderful time when I come to your ballroom.

"First, congratulations on your web site. It is easy to follow, and has all the pertinent information arranged logically and efficiently. To refresh your memory: My husband, Paul, and I met at the ballroom in May of 1993, married in 1994, and have a young daughter, Olivia. Paul was a veteran, and I was a beginner, but fell in love with dancing right away. When Olivia was very little we could not get away to dance, but did come to the Valentine's dance in 1995. I keep saying that all I want to do is start dancing again, but after going to the Hollywood Ballroom I am spoiled, and thus hesitant to try something closer to home. Our goal is to move back to the DC area, then maybe we can dance again. (Babysitters willing, of course). Thank you for providing such a wonderful atmosphere in your ballroom. We hope to get there soon. And, again, congratulations on your continued success."

Dear Bobbie and Staff at the Ballroom,

    This letter is far too late in reaching you, but I just wanted to tell you what a marvelous time Robert and I had at the New Year's Eve party and dance. The food was superb and plenty of it. We always enjoy coming to the ballroom dance and seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

    The Ballroom is such a friendly atmosphere with people guest hosting making everyone feel at home. I was a single in January, 1995 and visited the ballroom alone and was made to feel at home. Not only that, I got to dance almost every dance...and then Robert asked me to dance.

    Robert Wiggins and I met at the Hollywood Ballroom on January 1, 1995. After a few week-end jaunts for me alone from Virginia, Robert finally asked me for a date. We have been together ever since. Robert and I were married on June 28, 1997 in Falls Church, Virginia, where we now reside. We still enjoy coming to the Ballroom to dance. There is NO place that comes anywhere close to the great environment of the Ballroom here in Virginia. I look forward to the nights that Robert says, "Lets go to Bobbie's!" We are planning to attend the Cupid's Ball on February 14, 1998. May we plan to attend as Hollywood Ballroom Sweethearts?
